On each page you can click on any word to see a summary of it's meaning and use, including MP3 recordings. To support this I constructed a vocabulary database, which also allows users to search conveniently. I also wrote an article for developing Chinese language web sites with PHP:

工作专业和学国语 My career and studying Chinese

因为我是一个软件工程师所以我觉得一个学中文的方法可以靠我转业来帮忙。我也觉得这个方法也比较有意思。开始的时候我用了 Java 写源代码，但是现在我用 PHP 建设 chinesenotes.com。重要的原因是因为PHP的网站是比较便宜，而且这只是我业余时间的爱好。

Because I am a software engineer I had the idea that my expertise in that area could help me learn Chinese. I also thought that this would be a novel way to study. I started coding in Java but I have now switched to PHP for building chinesenotes.com. The main reason is due to the low cost of hosting a PHP web site. In any case, this is just a hobby.

为了练习中文和纪录学中文的经验我决定了写一个博客。除了这次个博客外我没遇到任何中英双语博客。欢迎中国人来批评我的语法或者提意见。我还有一个网站chinesenotes.com有学中文内容和工具。我也欢迎大家看看。

I decided to create a blog to practice Chinese and to record my experiences studying Chinese. Besides this blog I have not come across any other Chinese-English bilingual blogs. I welcome comments from native speakers on my grammar or any other comments in general. I am also working on a web site at chinesenotes.com with content related to studying Chinese and tools. I also welcome everyone to have a look at it.
